Intuitive Commander 1.3 for iPhone and iPod touch

Icon appstore

Intuitive Commander is an easy to use application to take your files with you and transfer them easily to and from any compatible Mac or PC.

You can connect to your Mac or PC using WiFi. You don't need to install a client on your computer and don't need to type in the computer's IP address.
Just share a folder on your Mac or PC and you will be able to access it on your iPhone or iPod touch.

Intuitive Commander uses the SMB protocol to access your shared files. SMB is the native sharing protocol for Microsoft Windows operating systems, but it is also offered by Mac OS X (Tiger and Leopard). In Mac OS X you must enable sharing files and folders using SMB in the System Preferences / Sharing / Options dialog.

With Intuitive Commander you can:

- Access your computer's shared files and folders.
- Copy files to and from your computer or between two computers.
- Create folders on your iPhone or computer.
- Delete files or folders from your iPhone or computer (folders must be empty).
- View your documents stored on your iPhone or iPod touch.

Intuitive Commander's file viewer supports the following file formats:

- Image files (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .tif, .tiff, .bmp)
- Text files (.txt)
- Source code (.c, .cpp, .h, .hpp, .m, .mm)
- Safari Web Archive (.webarchive)
- HTML (.htm, .html)
- Adobe PDF (.pdf)
- Microsoft Office (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt)

Troubleshooting

Your computer is not displayed in Network Neighbourhood or "Network error" message appears

Your iPhone must be connected via Wi-Fi to the same local network that your computer is connected to. Make sure the first 3 numbers in your iPhone's IP address are the same as in your computer's IP address.

To Find Your iPhone's IP Address go to the iPhone Settings menu, then click on Wi-Fi. Click on the blue arrow next to the wireless network that you are currently connected to. If you get more than one option, you will know which network you are connected to by the blue checkmark on the left. If the iPhone isn't connected to your wireless network right now, select it from the list to connect to it. Once it is connected click on the blue arrow.

If you are running Windows XP or Vista, you can download CommanderDiag1_3.zip. This is a simplified version of Intuitive Commander for Windows.

- Download and unzip the archive anywhere on you computer and run Commander.exe (no installation required).
- Select Network Neighbourhood and click Open.
- If a computer appears in the list, select it and click Open again.
- If you see your shares, select one of them and click Open.
- Now you can exit the program. A file called smblog.txt will be created.
- Please send me this file (find my email address on the Contact page). It will hopefully contain valuable information about the problem.

Your shares are not displayed

Please check the registry value restrictanonymous in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa.
If the value of this entry is set to other than 0, Intuitive Commander will not be able to display your shares.

For more information about this entry please check http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc783167.aspx.

You can change the value of this entry to 0 by using the registry editor Regedit.exe. Select Run in the Start Menu and type in Regedit.exe.

You must restart your computer for the changes to take effect and after reboot it takes about a minute to be able to access your share. After reboot please check if the value remains 0.
